We devote a lot of coverage to Batman: Arkham City, and rightfully so. The upcoming game is the sequel to one of the most beloved comic adaptations of all-time, Batman: Arkham Asylum. News today broke of some different skins that will allow players to tailor their Arkham City experience around their favorite Batman costumes. All-in-all, there will be six different skins (including the standard skin, seen on the right end of the photo below), but acquiring all of them may prove a bit tough, since each one is unique to a certain bundle or retailer. While game play won’t change depending on your Batman-of-choice, it’s certainly a great choice to let players reflect how they came to know and love the Dark Knight. Let’s take a peak at all the Bats, shall we?
Let’s begin on the left.
This first Batman surprised me the most: Batman Beyond. This popular animated series showed us a possible future for the caped crusader. No U.S. retailer has been identified as the distributor of this skin. The second is, of course, adapted from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight returns. Anyone who purchases the hefty Collector’s Edition will receive this skin. Next up is a representation of the Bat from the upcoming Geoff Johns graphic novel series Batman: Earth One. Again, it doesn’t appear that a U.S. distributor has been named for this skin. Fans of old-school Batman will recognize the fourth costume as a representation the typical 1970s costume. You’ll get this skin by pre-ordering the game with Toys ‘R Us. The fifth costume is based on the 1990s Batman: The Animated Series version of the Bat. Again, no U.S. distributor has been named for this skin. Finally, the last skin is Batman as he will appear, by default, in Arkham City.
I’m actually a bit surprised that there isn’t a skin based on the Christopher Nolan films, but the five chosen Bats are all certainly distinctive. Like the popular Klassic Kostume Mortal Kombat skins, I anticipate that they’ll all become available for purchase on the XBOX Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network Store at some point in the future. Which skin are you planning on hunting down? Or, is the default skin just fine for you? Let us know in the comments.
If you’re dying for more Arkham City coverage, then look no further! Last month, we broke the story about future downloadable episodes for Arkham City in our interview with Kevin Conroy, the man behind the Bat. Read up on the inclusion of Robin as a playable character or some of the promising features of this upcoming title. Batman: Arkham City officially releases on October 18th in the U.S.

Nice! I can’t wait for this game! Really looking forward to playing as Batman Beyond and Batman from BTAS!
That is SO awesome. The Batman Beyond looks a little weird to me…
It’s bulkier than usual, presumably because it’s meant to be Bruce in the suit.
I’m not resting until I get the Batman Beyond one.
Freakin’ Sweet…there are no two ways about it! Which one would you be?
Batman Beyond, for sure.
Now I reeeaaaalllly wish my XBox worked.
BATMAN BEYOND!? That is awesome!!! Agreed on the no Nolan based Batman…but I doubt I’d play as that Batman anyways. Good find Kyle!
Great article, really looking to this one!
I know it’s only available with the Collector’s Edition but I would love to play as Frank Miller’s Batman!
Very cool that there are options!
you just sold me on the game
The 70s style comic book version with the light blue is my favorite. Been waiting years to see a good rendtion of that.
I need to find out how to get the BTAS skin!
The Sexy Armpit…awesome
They’re all cool, but I personally like the retro costume (4th from left) the best.
They must make a nolan based skin! How awesome would that be!?
