The first Earth Day was celebrated back in 1970 as a means to educate and raise political awareness of conservation and environmental issues, following a massive 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, CA. Earth Day has grown since its humble beginnings 42 years ago, and this year people from 192 countries around the globe will take part in Earth Day celebrations.  Dark Horse Comics is taking part by offering readers a special FREE digital one-shot comic of The Massive! This is a very appropriate gesture on Dark Horse’s part, as The Massive is Brian Wood’s new comic about a few surviving environmentalists who failed to save the world from an cataclysmic environmental disaster.
