Bob Hoskins Dead at 71

Derreck Mayer 04/30/2014 News

Well, another one of my notable childhood actors has passed away. Bob Hoskins has died at the age of 71. Reports say he died in a hospital with his family. According to the family’s statement, he passed away “following a bout of pneumonia”.

Bob Hoskins was best known for his roles in Hook, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Super Mario Bros, Nixon and The Long Good Friday.

While Hook and Who Framed Roger Rabbit might not be the highest quality of films, I’ve always loved them… even Super Mario Bros.

Of note, Bob Hoskins was nominated for Best Actor for the film Mona Lisa. He retired from acting in 2012 after Snow White and the Hutsman due to being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

What was your favorite Bob Hoskins role?

About The Author

I was born in Philadelphia, PA but grew up southwest of Kansas City. At heart, I'm a nerd. My earliest memories are watching Star Trek: TNG with my dad and I even named my car the Enterprise (vanity plate and all). You can find my Star Trek personality at @TheStarTrekDude on twitter as well. I love science fiction and super heroes. I'm currently reading several DC The New 52 comic book series including Batman and Green Lantern. Green Lantern is my favorite super hero and want to be when I grow up. I'm always looking for something new, so don't hesitate to suggest a new comic book series for me, especially things outside of the DC universe!
