Avengers VS X-Men: Round 1!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past month then you’re well aware of the major Marvel event of 2012, Avengers VS X-Men. So far, there have been live-blog interviews with the writers, confirmation that Avengers: X-Santion and Avengers: The Children’s Crusade will have a direct connection to the event, and release parties to be held at local comic shops across the country. Today, Marvel has debuted some promo art featuring the two teams going at it.

The biggest superhero brawl in the history of the Marvel Universe begins this April in Avengers Vs. X-Men #1!

I love the marketing on this already, especially the way Marvel is pitting individual heroes against each other. There’s no doubting Marvel’s marketing skills; they know exactly how to get fans excited, even after being bored to death with huge events year after year. And despite the fact that they’ve borrowed a tagline from Iron Chef, they have really nailed this marketing campaign. Just take a look at the awesome Black Widow/Psylocke and Magneto/Iron Man matchups below. Not only is the art beautiful, but it really gets me excited to see what other battles they have planned. I just hope that the event is as exciting as the build up has been.

UPDATE:

Marvel today released two more images to promote the event. Spider-Man vs Iceman and Storm vs Thor. Both look amazing and have me wanting more. Can’t wait to see what they give us tomorrow.
