Game Informer has just announced their June cover story: Assassin’s Creed Revelations . They have also released the first high-definition screenshot of Revelations, which they have made available for download in a few different resolutions.
Since the issue hasn’t hit newsstands yet, details are still pretty slim. From what we know, this game is going to wrap up the story presented in Assassin’s Creed 2 and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which elevated the story of the original game from mere conspiracy to a full-on race to save humankind.
Players will once again control Ezio, the star of Assassin’s Creed 2, who has aged significantly since that title and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, as well as the rarely-used Desmond Miles (the player’s character controlled when not inside the Animus machine). Returning to the franchise is Altaïr, the star of the original Assassin’s Creed. The three characters will all play an equally important role in resolving the story and each is said to have their own unique play style.
Whether this is the definitive end of the Assassin’s Creed storyline is yet to be seen. Game Informer confirms that this will be Ezio’s final outing in the franchise. Originally planned as a trilogy, the game has already seen two major releases in Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed 2, with support from portable titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (PSP) and Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles (DS) and expansion titles like Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, last year’s entry in the franchise, which introduced multi-player. The Game Informer reveal mentions that a new, “customizable” multiplayer game will be included with Assassin’s Creed Revelations.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations is tentatively scheduled to be released by French developer Ubisoft this November.
