Aquaman Set For Upcoming Film

aquaman 1The rumors of Aquaman’s inclusion in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film have been running rampant for quite a few months now. So much so that the actor rumored to play the King of Atlantis, Jason Momoa, has become frustrated by the constant questioning.

The problem for Momoa is, according to HitFix, he will in fact portray a character based off of Aquaman in the upcoming film.

Superman’s destruction of the world engine in Man of Steel had a major impact on the ocean it was centered above. That is surely a choice that Aquaman would take exception to. It lays the groundwork for the character to arrive in the DC cinematic universe. The questions remain of who would assume the role and if the writers would decide that the character should be included.

Mind you, this is not an official announcement as of yet and questioning the actor will likely earn the same responses he has given lately – “No. Stop asking me. It’s so annoying.”

Momoa is most recently known for his work on HBO’s Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo. For science fiction fans, they remember him as Ronon Dex from Stargate: Atlantis. Going all the way back to 1999, he was wearing red swimsuits and running in slow motion as Jason Ioane, a Baywatch lifeguard.

Aquaman would be an interesting inclusion in the upcoming film and one that has the groundwork laid for him already. It would continue to set the stage for the upcoming Justice League film.

How big of a role Aquaman fills in the immediate future is yet to be seen. As HitFix also notes, it is not even certain that the film will use Aquaman as the character’s name. There is little concrete information surrounding this rumor. It does seem to be a rumor that is gaining momentum consistently.

HitFix seems confident that the rumor can be put to bed and that fans can be confident that director Zack Snyder will start filming with Momoa in the near future.
