Anime Midwest – Friday Fireworks!!!
Friday fanfare fires-up phenomenal display of manga, anime, cosplay, steampunk, horror and more! Since August of last year this is the most enjoyable anime con around I’ve been to! Friday was hours in line waiting to get in, surrounded by happy people in costume taking pictures of each other. (yes, I said hours in line and happy in the same sentence!!!)
Anime Midwest had a great first day feel – most cosplays and costumers were positive, cheerful, shouting short Japanese phrases or in possession of ‘just happy to be here’ attitudes that permeated each other and spread like wildfire! Luved it to death! First days at the con are always challenging but this convention has promise despite being on July 4th weekend! Attendance on friday was insane!
Plans for the weekend include costume contests, Maid Cafes, celebs, artists, writers, musicians, food and more! This is a must for anime conventions – the first day costumes were even better than most comic conventions costume contests and of a wide variety of genres – not just manga or anime! If you’re in Chicago stop by this weekend, it’s going on until Sunday and will be well worth the drive! Tally!
