Now, while the future seems very bleak for Peter and Spider-Man, the recently released variant cover for Amazing Spider-Man #700 tells a different story. Drawn by Marcos Martin, this cover doesn’t give any indication as to the issue’s contents, but rather shows the world of Spider-Man in better times:
Amazing Spider-Man #700
According to editor Steve Wacker, who debuted this cover on his Twitter, the issue number on this cover is just a ‘placeholder’ and not the actual number. Beyond that, it’s just a nice cover so don’t looking for clues about what happens in the final issue of Amazing Spider-Man!
Also on Wacker’s Twitter, is a look at Amazing Spider-Man #699.1 featuring Morbius, The Living Vampire! This special Point One issue serves as the lead-in to the January debuting ongoing series called, well, Morbius, The Living Vampire. The cover is by Stefano Caselli and also looks fantastic! While I’m no fan of the Point One issues, with covers like this you can’t ignore them!

Here’s the solicit for the lead in to the Morbius title, it’s nice to see they’re holding the price point on this!

they couldnt get McFarlane?
Not sure I'd want to see McFarlane do a Spider-Man cover. maybe 10 years ago. Not now…
That diner cover reminds me of the Christmas episode for Frasier.
Time to start thinking about some awesome Christmas contests!
Frasier??? That's awesome. It reminds me of A Christmas Story. Or Who's the Boss…well maybe not, but that just popped in my head. Anyways….700 huh? that's a lot of spidey comics!
I still can't get over the fact this series is ending (for now…) I've been a loyal reader for it since #529 and was so looking forward to keeping this series for years to come. One thing that annoys me is how both Marvel and DC seem to hate books with high numbers and think the only way you can get new readers is to ignore legacy and start over… again and again and again.
My first issue of this run for Amazing was #529, a long way from #1 and it didn't bother me. You know what kept me on it? Interesting stories and great artwork.
I'm going to try to get this cover for ASM #700 though, I really like it!
Another one bites the dust….
