Seems as though Marvel wasn’t done with their teasers. They added another after this column was posted and I accidentally overloooked one. Sorry about that but here they are:
CORPORATE lists Peter David and Carmine Di Giandomencio. There has been some speculation that this might be the return of X-Factor but with a this specific word one can only imagine what it could be.
When you attach names like Jonathan Hickman, Nick Spencer, and Stefan Caselli to a teaser that reads simply GLOBAL there is no limit to the amount of speculation you can get. Hickman is known for doing stories of a scope that could easily reach a global scale. The only possible hint might be the color…
This past week we’ve seen some interesting teasers from the House Of Ideas as they prepare for Marvel NOW! Phase 3.
They have started a lot o talk and speculation on the internet so let’s just jump into the pool and see what we have and what you think!
First up is…
The first one features the word “TRIAL” with flames in the letters and comes from Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen. Since they are currently working on All-New X-Men and the word features flames the obvious theory is this will focus on the Phoenix and perhaps some of the current events in some of the X-Titles.
Brian Michael Bendis isn’t done yet:
JUDGEMENT is also in flames and features the creative team currently behind Guardians Of The Galaxy. While TRIAL was a bit more specific, this one doesn’t answer any questions… yet.
Now it gets interesting. MINDBUBBLE features the names Rick Remender, Pascal Alixe, and Nic Klein. There is a lot of speculation surrounding this one. It seems that back in August Rick Remender made mention of an old Captain America villain called Doctor Mind Bubble. It would make some sense since Remender is the current writer of Captain America, as well as Uncanny Avengers, so maybe the ‘good’ Doctor is coming back like the villain Nuke.
This next one got my attention:
When I see the names Dan Slott and Michael Allred separately I pay attention. When I see them together I drop everything and pay real close attention! Here is my personal guess on this one: The Silver Surfer. The clues are pretty obvious in that the word is in silver and the one word hint RAD can be taken two ways: 1) ‘Rad’ is common slang for surfers and 2) While spelled with only one ‘D’ the last name of the being who became the Surfer is Radd. Honestly, this is the one I’m most interested in.
Another teaser with Dan Slott writing only this time he’s working with Giuseppe Camuncoli who has done a great job on Superior Spider-Man on occasion. This teaser brought some speculation about the end of Superior Spider-Man, which would be horrible, but looking at the words THE END it, in my opinion, signals the end of the Ultimate Universe. It’s rather simple: in the 616 purple is the color of Galactus and Galactus brings about the end for a lot of things.
Well, we can speculate all we want until all the answers are revealed at the New York City Comic Con during Marvel’s various panels on October 11 and 12.
